Hello All... I am trying to find a decent mother board that could work the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 that I will be getting. I am planing on getting 4 Gigs of Memory and possibly expanding up to 8 later on. So if anyone has any recomendations I could sure use some for Motherboard and Memory. I'd like to keep it below 200 on the MB. The Memory I have seen kind floats around 100 for 4 Gigs DDR2 1066.

Thank you in advance.

get a 680i. i love mine. do you realy need ddr2 1066? pc-6400 should be just fine. of coarse if you are not doing any sli'ng or crossfire'ing you could get like a gigabit. most mobo's will support the quad core.

The Gigabyte DS3L (P35 or EP35), will support both the Q6600 (even the 45nm quads with BIOS update) and up to 8GB of RAM, but you might want to use DDR2-800 with it, some people had problems with RAM running natively at over 800MHz (but no trouble OCing DDR2-800 over 800MHz). Moreover, it costs just ~90$ so you got plenty of room to buy a good cooler to OC.

yeah I was looking at the Gigabyte board that you mentioned... I also saw a MSI P35. Do you guys have a link to a 680i?

Thanks for all your help so far I really appreciate it.

I've had a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P that is now bad. I've had it 2.5 months, so the Egg won't replace and don't even list that mobo anymore. Worked great for a short time, and I liked all the USB ports. Gigabyte now wants me to send them the original mobo back, wait for them to diddle around, and send one back to me. Probably be about a month or so. I'm sort of stuck here. I don't think I want to replace it with the same model. I may use the rma and not care when the new mobo arrives, just to have a backup. Meanwhile, I'd like to order a different mobo with similar specs. I have: E8400 cpu, Hightech S1234 cooler, 2 x 2gb corsair ram (DDR 800), HIS 3870 video card, Antec P182 case, 2 Samsung 320's, etc. What mobo would you now recommend? I paid $150 for the other, so I guess that's the price area. From what I've read, I'd like to avoid NVidea mobo,s and probably stay with a P35, P38 type. No overclocking, just a solid and reliable mobo. Don't care if it's MSI, Abit, Asus or whatever. Thanks for all responses.
