I've got 8G of Corsair DDR2-800 (TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145194

I've got my Q6600 (G0) OC'd to 3.0G and I'm wondering what my memory should be set at.
I've heard that OC'ing with 8G of ram is tough but I'd like to try anyway.

I'd like a 1:1 ratio if possible.

Right now I've got it at 667 and 4-4-4-12 @2.1v
Because I have 8G should I relax those timings to 5-5-5-18, or does that even matter?

Any insight on timing and OCing 8G would be great!
Thanks!

no need to relax timings. just run the prime test to see if it is stable. if you fail, it is more likely the cpu voltage than memory issue. Basically, you are now underclocking your ram. So, Ram should not be the problem.

They should hold their own at 4-4-4-12 at 400 Mhz, it's their rated speed, but just to be on the safe side loosen the timings first, increase the voltage to 2.2v and OC your CPU, when you get to the OC you want (I'm assuming 3.6 Ghz on the Q6600) you can start thightening the timings one at a time and starting backwards (5-5-5-18 ->5-5-5-17, then 5-5-5-12->5-5-4-12) etc.
And as a final step reducing the voltage to 2.1v again.

Remember to use memtest often between each adjust.

I'm really not interested in 3.6Ghz. I'm super happy with the 3.0Ghz.
I just want a stable machine. Right now, with 3.0Ghz and 667 4-4-4-12 @2.1v I can barely run prime95 for an hour. Funny thing is, it won't even give me an error, it just blue screens to death and then reboots. What's that all about?

Yep, round off checking is enabled.

I just ran memtest for over 6 hours and everything passed great.
So,.... with the computer crashing with prime95 I'm assuming this is a CPU issue.

What do you think?
