I keep getting burn errors all of a sudden with my Pioneer DVR-115D and Nero 7 (have also tried on Nero 8)

everytime i try and burn, it freezes somewhere between 8-20%.. then a minute or so later.. burn fails and the error message is "reset occured"

Here's some background info:
This is a homebuilt system and the dvd writer was taken out of another pc when i built this one.
Since i've built this pc (december) i've had to swap out the motherboard 3 times and the graphics card one because of compatability issues and faults.
Its only since the final motherboard change (Gigabyte EP45-UD3) that the buring started failing..

so.. i figured, due to the numerous hardware changes, i've probably got some driver conflicts somewhere.

decided to format the pc.. as it was geting a bit sluggish anyway..

just tried burning again on a fresh install and FAIL.

below is the error log generated by Nero.. I hope someone can understand the log and help me out.

I got the solution!
I have a brand new LG GH22NP20 and a new Samsung SH-S202J DVD writer connected to same IDE cable. THe Samsung writes perfectly, but then when i try to read it, it sais "disc not formatted, blah blah". Every time i try burning with the LG, it wastes a disc with "RESET occured" when trying to write lead in. I have upgraded to newest official firmwares and newest NEro (Nero 9 ) and also tried expensive media. Nothing ! THen i tried to only leave 1 drive in as master. Guess what ? Works perfectly ! Then i switched the position of drives (from master to slave, etc..) which was at the end of IDE cable, is now at center, also changed jumpers. Problems occured again ! At the end i have made the config as following: 1st IDE cable has system hard drive + DVD writer on it. 2nd IDE cable has torrent hard drive + DVD writer. HDs as master, DVD writers as slaves. Works perfectly !!! ( both writers write DVDs perfectly!!!). This is pretty much it... Do not experience with softwares, firmwares, expensive DVD discs, etc as theese won't solve the problem ever. The system now even loads faster :) This is strange, as the manual of my hard drive sais do not connect "slow" drives (e.g CD-ROM) with hard drives as it may slow the faster drive down... But now it seems that new DVD writers are so fast that it can even speed things up if you don't connect 2 hard drive to same IDE channel. Wasted like 30 DVD discs to figure this out :)

Resolved! It was the via ide drivers,
I changed those on vista to generic ide drivers and now everithing is running smooth.
If someone has a Biostar 965pt or other motherboard with via ide go to device manager
and try to pick a new driver chose pick driver on the computer
and select the generic driver instead of the via one.

Found it at http://club.cdfreaks.com/f86/cant-burn-anything-optiarc-ad-7071a-219682/

This happens to me too. Before, burning CDs was OK, then suddenly I get these reset error messages. Nero freezez at aorund 20-30% then it displays an error message. When I us a CD-RW, it burns okay. But it wastes on CD-R. :(

Why is this happening?

hi,
it sounds great and i think it should fix my similar problem.
i have the issue as you have detailed. as a green-horn, i do not understand the technicalities of

"1st IDE cable has system hard drive + DVD writer on it. 2nd IDE cable has torrent hard drive + DVD writer. HDs as master, DVD writers as slaves. Works perfectly !!!"

how do i go about this? Thanks in advance!

well friend I do not how long you have waited..............so i will tell the ribbon like things which you see connecting motherboard and device...........IDE connector ribbon/cable............ and this cable coming out of mother has two black flat thing with tiny holes ..........(got it ).................

what he has done is he has put on one 1st IDE connector cable and Hard disk set as master (jumpers; there is a jumper which is clip set in certain position your hard disc become master) .........note that master part is the tiny holes filled box at the end of cable.

he then add a rom which is tiny holes filled box before the end part
