I'm doing a new build with an Asus P5K SE/EPU mobo and an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 45nm Wolfdale processor. None of the IDE devices I attach to the lone IDE on the board are recognized. I have tried three different CD drives and one HD. I also tried using two different IDE cables. If a CD drive is attached, the drawer won't open; just a lit power light.

Anyone have any ideas? The mobo is brand new. Do I need to flash the BIOS to support this processor? I need the CD drive to install the OS. Any suggestions are appreciated.

More than likely the controller is disabled or not set correctly...

Refer to page 4-23 of users manual...

"Marvell IDE Controller"
"Allows you to enable or disable the Marvell IDE Controller"

If this is set to disable it just wont work...
