Registry Import

I cannot import my registry from my backup saved file. I do not want to do a SYSTEM RESTORE I want to be able to do before and after loading incase issues. I get.....

Not all data was successfully
written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other
processes."

How can I do this with the saved registry file? Thanks

HERE is a good explanation of exporting and importing registry backups.
After reading this article, you can look at the type backup you have and maybe able to perform a registry import/restore
