Hey all,

I'm looking to get new RAM for my comp. It's not the greatest computer out there (definitely not), but basically I got an Intel C2D E6400 and an Asus P5W DH Deluxe.

I've been looking at this RAM - Corsair XMS2 DHX 2x2GB DDR2-800

They're on sale with a $30 mail-in rebate.. and my friend wants to buy my current RAM for $30. So it'd be like I'd be paying $49 for $126 RAM!

I was just wondering if anyone else had any input. I'm running Vista 32bit edition, and I know not all 4GB will be read, but I may run some 64bit OSs soon.. we'll see.

Is this RAM good? Will it work well with my motherboard? Will it overclock well? Is there better RAM out there for around the same price? Any other info will be most greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT- Fyi, I use my comp mainly for (besides internet browsing, AIM, email, word processing)- Video encoding, video editing, and occassional gaming.

EDIT AGAIN - So now I'm debating. I was talking to a friend of mine and he recommended G.Skill DDR2-1000 2x2GB RAM. His reasons were - cheaper, faster, etc. Will DDR2-1000 even work on my motherboard!?

possably, you should go on newegg and find some ddr2-800 memory (ie Pc-6400) and find whats in your price range and read the reviews. i have seen people complain that there ram didnt work with asus boards. you just have to find best ram for the best price. i would check and see what is said about that corsair ram. i have heard people complain that it does not pass the memtest program. but then again a lot of people love corsair ram. newegg is the best place to look for customer reviews in my opinion.
