2x 9800GX2 is already quad SLI, even with driver it is not meaningful yet as existing chipset is not support SLI over the quad SLI. Maybe next generation after nforce 790i can be.

What do you mean the chipset?

This is all dependant on the Drivers and game support. And no 3x Gx2s is not a possible outcome.

Quad GX2s is having problems as it is, but i see it getting fixed in the near future, Nvidia stated that they want to push the quad alot more.
