Hey all, I've got a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Motherboard, which has a PCI-E x16 1.0a slot.
I was wondering, will the 8800 GT 512MB fit in and work with my motherboard? I have been searching all over the web, but it isn't clear, since in many websites says that it won't work, while in others it says that it will...? Because PCI-E 2.0 x 16 cards only work with PCI-E 1.1 motherboards (and 2.0) but not 1.0/1.0a. Is this true?
Is there anyone here that does have a 1.0/1.0a motherboard with a working 8800 GT that requires PCI E 2.0?
Also, I've read about some conflicts between VIA chipset motherboards and these graphics cards, how do I make sure what chipset my motherboard has (It says it's nForce but it also says something about VIA for the fireware and some ports).
The rest of my specs are
Enermax Liberty 500W PSU
MSI K8N Neo 4 939
AMD Opteron @ 3.0 gHz
2 GB of RAM.
Don't worry PCI-E 2.0 is just a marketing gimmick a motherboard with it only has 1% gains in performance than one without. Anyway PCI-E 2.0 cards are fully compatible with any PCI-E motherboard no-matter what type 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0

Thanks a lot. About the VIA chipset thing.. my chipset is based on nForce, but why does it say in the other specs that it has a VIA chipset? Is it for something else? If so, will that matter?
