Hey Guys...
My computer did that annoying Vista security update that kills the internet again...
Heres what I had to do to get it going again.
Attempt 1: restore computer to previous date when functioning
failed.
Attempt 2: Remove security updates in the timeframe of when the internet stopped workinig... Failed.
Attempt 3: open CMD and PING WWW.Google.com failed
Start type "CMD" before clicking on the file, right click to open it as an administrator.
ping your loopback at "ping 127.0.0.1", this should return ... if not read no further.
now in admin style Command prompt type "netsh winsock reset" enter
then type "netsh int ip reset reset.log"
reboot. ... Still no internet
Not done yet....
start> "MSconfig" enter... in the general tab switch from "Selective startup" to "Normal startup"... reboot.... (still no internet)
Uninstall all antivirus software currently running on the computer.... reboot ( still no internet, and an annoying deductive measure)
Powerdrain procedure: shutdown > unplug the PSU power cord and unplug the modem. Hold the power button on the computer tower down, (while unplugged for 15 seconds) "microsoft says this is a Nvidia network card static issue at this point"... at the same time make sure the modem is shut off for one whole minute.
Startup .... SUCCESS!! Unbelievable... Thats what I did, and it worked... hope this helps someone.
Alternatively you can call Microsoft, as this is thier screwup as far as I understand...
1-866-727-2338 Microsoft pcsafety virus department, I got redirected to another department.
