Im looking a building a new computer, spending about 2-2.5K on the tower. The only dilema is that I have been so far removed from tech scene i know little to nil now. Even so, so far I have chosen:
ASUS - Maximus Formula - Motherboard
Intel - Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 - CPU $218
Corsair - TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 - RAM
Lian Li - PC-V1000B Plus Black - Case
Gigabyte - ODIN Pro 1200W ATX Power Supply (GE-MK20A-D1) - PSU
Western Digital - Raptor X/150GB 10 000RPM (16Mb Cache) - HDD
Im having some conflict however chosing the video card, I have been getting feedback from some mates suggesting that I get 2 512Mb cards and run them in SLi/Crossfire rather than a larger card running with 2 cores.
What would be better between:
ASUS - EN9800GX2 TOP/G/2DI/1GB PCI-X 2.0 - Videocard
or
ASUS - EAH3870/G/HTDI/512M?
All feedback would be greatly appriciated!
Peace out.

You would be best waiting 2 weeks before purchasing a high end video card.
If you want the most powerful, look out for nVidia's GTX 280.
It is said to be more powerful than the current 9800GX2 at near the same price point.
The new cards from bouth nVidia and ATI are slated to be released in week 25.
------------------------------If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.
