Someone gave me a tape drive along with some tapes.

it's a seagate STT320000A

That darn drive ate all the 6 tapes!!! I thought it was the tapes... so I bought another drive, and 6 other tapes!

guess what? the drive EATS MY TAPES TOO!!! But this time, I stopped trying after juste one.

The tape breaks inside the cartridge.

What the hell!! this is getting expansive and I can'T believe such a business oriented technology could be such garbage... What could be wrong!? I just insert the tape in the drive, the drive spins a little and the tape breaks!

I've opened one cartridge and the tape breaks at the end.

You thought it was the tapes so you bought another drive? That doesn't make much sense to me. At any rate, are you sure the tapes are the right format? The Seagate STT320000A requires Travan tape cartridges.

I thought it was the tapes so that's why i tried 4 (all that i had) to realize it may be the drive so i bought another one and then some more tapes and the darn drive ate one tape.

I believe the tapes are correct, they are Travan 10/20

So... any tip to why it's happening? Is there anything I can do to the drives so they stop breaking my tapes?
