Wont recognize Seagate barricuda 7200.10 250gb

So i just got all my new parts to build a computer and everything checks out good ( as far as i saw) except for my hd never shows up in the bios. Ive tried to auto detect it in every sata port and i get nothing. It spins and powers up like normal which makes me even more confused. im running it off of a nvidia 780i motherboard. i also thought maybe it would auto detect itself during startup so i tried to install my OS ( windows xp) and it got to the point where it tells me there is no HD to put it on..... Help?? suggestions??

Hey qastaley, are you using the drive with your mobo's SATA port? If not, have you checked if it's plugged into your power supply cables for power?
