Hi,
I'm about to build my first comp, and am just about ready - save the damn graphics card!
I'd been waiting ages to buy, slowing saving up, hoping nvidia would release my dream card. BA*TARDS.

Anyway, in the UK, I can pick up the flowing (all in £)
8800 GTS 150 (maybe 140)
8800 GTX 175
9800 GTS 194

I can't decide which to buy. I'm currently gaming on 1680x1050 and will eventually upgrade (not for at least 6months though).

As far as i'v read, it goes for my res 9800 > GTX > GTS
But for higher resolutions: GTX > 9800 > GTS.
But then, the GTX uses more power and is hotter....

I had my heart set on the GTS for a while now, but I’ve only recently seen how close the prices are. I can afford to go for the extra 30-40 quid if needed (at one point i was going to get two GTS's in SLI, or even a GX2, but just doesn't seem worth it right now).
Any light that can be shed/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does make of card matter? ie XFX vs PNY vs etc?

Thanks v much

With regard to the manufacturer, XFX have a double lifetime warranty (hence I have two! :D ), BFG had a lifetime warranty, EVGA have a lifetime warranty and the ability to upgrade the card following purchase (for 3 months). AFAIK those manufacturers offer the best warranties.
I personally would go for the GTX, for the little bit extra outlay it will perform better and at any higher res, will stretch its lead over the GTS. I definitely wouldn't go with the 9800 for that price, the 8800GTX is a better buy than that :)

Agreed^^^
8800GTX beats the 9800GTX and 8800GTS 512 however the difference isnt noticealbe
8800GTX wins in higher resolutions with AA and AF due to its 768MB of memory

No problem!
I personally still rate the 8800GTX/Ultra more than pretty much anything else in the current line-up (as a personal preference) and at the current prices, I can't see why you wouldn't choose one over the newer (but slower) GTS. :sol:
