Hi,

I'm moving my Q6600 to a new Sonata III case from a SFF, to give the system more room & to add a Xigmatek 1283 HDT tower style HSF.

I got the Sonata b/c I wanted a decent power supply and the Case only costs $25 more than a bare earthwatts 500.

Is there any good way to set up the cooling so the CPU PWM circuitry and North bridge get some airflow.

The Sonata III has a top mounted earthwatts 500 PSU with one 80mm fan at the back and air intake on the front. The case has a 120 mm fan at the back, sort of horizontaly inline with the cpu socket.

The HSF blow parallel to the motherboard, unlike intel's reference design so it does not direct air at the mobo. I guess I will be mounting the HSF to blow hot air directly towards the rear exhaust case fan.

Thanks,

Cyborg

the xigmatek 1283 comes with a little 'spoiler' which is designed to slot between some of the fins and direct some airflow down onto the VRMs... It doesn't work incredibly well, but it's better than nothing.
