My question is: Can I run my computer without the 2 x 4-pin power connections (if not, what should I do)? Because my computer would act as if it was shorting-out when this was connected but with it not connected it runs fine. I only thought to try this after recommended by a XFX agent but he hasn't gotten back to this question.
Which 2x4pin power connectors exactly are you referring to? Can you post a photo or link? Also, what do you mean exactly by "...act as if it was shorting-out..."?

I believe its the Aux. power for the CPU. It generally comes as an 8-pin connector.
VERY short time of power (fans spin up) but almost instantaneously all power is lost. I've gone through the regular stuff (reset CMOS, RAM stuff, barebones, different PSU) but it is JUST this one connection thats causing the problem.
I've tried replacing the power supply and it produced the same results :X. On another forum I was told that I should get a PSU with simply an 8-pin instead of 2 4-pins. Does this make sense?
