I want to build a new PC which is primarily for gaming my budget is a £1000. I want to order it on the 29th april maybe even earlier depending on my situation anyway after about a 2weeks of research I have ended up with the following parts.
The reason i have chosen this setup is becuase i want to run games smoothly on very high settings. At the moment im stuck with a Intel D and a geforce 7300LE :fou: . This is going to be my first ever pc dedicated to gaming. cant wait to play games like CoD4 and UT3 :)

If you wish to overclock, 750i is weak. You should ideally get x38/48 board. The downside is they don't support sli, only crossfire. Keep in mind 9800gx2 counts as single card and do not require sli to run, unless, of course, you want 2 of them for quad gpu. For that, 780i is a decent overclocker with sli support.

What motherboard would you recommend?
I never overclocked before but i might give it a try in the future but at the moment im not really fussed about it. I want a quality motherboard which wil last me atleast 6months. I want the 780i or the 790i but they are overpriced but if i have to i will go with this one

it cost more than the P5N-D but is it really worth it???

thanks

I'm not sure if it's worth it. 780i runs at 1333mhz fsb natively, and oc reliably to 1600mhz, which translates to 3.6ghz on Q6600, and 3.0ghz on Q9300. Q6600 use 9x multiplier, and Q9300 use 7.5, thus the difference at the same fsb. A cheaper p35 also oc to 1600mhs fsb reliably. X38 runs at 1600mhz fsb natively, and oc reliably to 2000mhz, which translates to 4.5ghz on Q6600(it won't go that high, cpu hardware limit), and 3.7ghz on Q9300. Of course, p35 and X38 do not support sli, only crossfire.

Thanks for the reply

btw do you think a 9800GX2 will fit in a antec P182 case?

My recommendations (assuming no SLI):
P35-DS3x or P35-P5L-x
Q9300

If possible:
PP&C 750
