I have been searching around now for some time and I came across the Cooler Master Hyper TX2, according to the newegg reviews it performed well. I don't really need a $60 cooler, just something that will keep my e8400 cool while O/C @ 3.8GHz. Is this the best for under $40? ( really don't like Thermaltake)

And also I noticed two different case fans that interested me. The Apevia 120mm Blue LED and the Cooler Master blue Led 120mm. I saw a picture of the Apevia one, but none of the cooler master one. I have a Cooler Master CM 690 so would the case fans be the same as it or not?

Which one is better??? Apevia is cheaper but Cooler Master seems more reliable. What do you think??

depends on how much money you want to burn. i would just go with the more powerful one even if it was less reliable. worst case is you have to rma

You want to overclock to 3.8 ghz, but don't want to spend 60 bux to keep your processor safe?
Don't know about the hyper TX2, but I know its not the best. The Xigmatek is great in that price range the 1283 was a recommendation from toms

It might get you there.

I do have experience with the apevia fans, they are definitely cheaper and louder. If you don't mind fan noise than the apevias are bright and pretty. If you want performance and quiet go with the cooler master.

If you really want to get to 3.8 ghz, review the best coolers and pick one. Or go with water.

Okay For one I don't really understand water cooling and how it works so, No also if the cooler mentioned below wont keep it cool at 3.8GHz then I'll downgrade to 3.6GHz
And I've decided to go with the Apevia fans and go with the Zalman CNPS9500, has good reviews and looks to preform nice.

Make up your mind. Do you want to scrimp on an HSF or do you want to hit 3.8 GHz? Probably the best HSF out is the ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme. the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is a very close second and it costs about half as much as a TRUE and fan. The Xig is about $40; the retention bracket is about $6 - $8. Anything less than these and you will probably not reach 3.8 GHz at reasonable temperatures.

BTW I use a Thermalright ultra 120 (non extreme version) with my AMD 9850 quad and I hit 3.2, which is pretty good for that processor. 24/7 i run 32C on all four cores at 3.0 ghz.

I paid around 200 clams for my proc. the 60 bucks was a worthwhile investment to me.

I use the Hyer TX2 on my rig (2180@3.4Ghz@1.53v) it keeps my cpu at 2C above ambient Idle and around 25C above ambient at load. Great for my purposes, but it performs better then stack as it's lapped with the IHS and i use good TC. If i were to upgrade to a better CPU i would also look to upgrade my HSF, maybe a V8.
