Usb2 external storage harddrive type inside?

What kind of harddrive is typically in a usb2 harddrive external box?

I have a seagate 1.5TB Passport/Desk version. Is there a SATA harddrive in there? If so I am considering taking that harddrive outa there so I can connect it to SATA port to increase performance for a while.

I can't seem to find the hard disk you're referring to. Mind sharing a link?

I'd assume a 2.5" hard disk, but you never know until you open the case up. Some manufacturers use proprietary kinds of hard disks for their external drives.
