I really was keen on the 9450's 12mb L2, what is everyone recommending as a second resort processor?  I was thinking the core 2 duo e8500 3.16.  I do a lot of cad/cam work, programs don't have multi thread support.

thx

Wait 2 more days, most re/etailers are saying they'll have them on stock on 5/15.

I have nothing witty to say.

Yeah the 45nm processors are far from being 'gone'.  Intel's gonna milk that cow for at least another 18 months, stock should become less volite in the next month or so.

looks like I may have gotten one from fry's...Yesterday fry's was out.  Also yesterday I went through about 7 or 8 other website's respective checkout procedures only to get "sorry, cannot process order" at the very end...after several minutes of typing in all my order info.  enough to drive ya nuts, also enough to remember not to order from any of those sites.

If the apps you use aren't multithreaded then you would be better off with either an 8400 or 8500. They have 4 mb of cache per core and therefore you would get to use 4mb (or 50% of what u paid for) as opposed to 3mb (or 25%) with the quads. Also they OC very nicely if that is your thing....quads are rather more difficult.
