How to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium on Acer Aspire 5920 laptop

I have been told by a techie at Fix Cleaner that I have corrupt windows files and need to reinstall. Does this mean I have to do a clean install i.e re-format the hard drive, or can I just re-install over my existing Vista.

if that doesnt work then I would recommend a fresh install.
