GA-MA78GM-S2H, improper ram detection

Board: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H
Ram: Gskill 2 x 1gb ddr2 800

problem: only recognizes 1.790 gb of ram. Dual channel enabled, set to 800. Tried changing voltage, to no avail. Is there a way to check/adjust the timings? Or is there a simpler fix that I'm missing?
