HP pavillion DVD & CD DRIVE

Hello,
I have a HP pavillion dv6700 entertainment laptop. My DVD & CD player stopped working, I was pretty sure I wore it out. I bought a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop 15.4" IDE DS-8A1H DVD+RW Dual layer LightScribe Burner online to replace it. I put it in and it doesn't work. When I click on Computer all I see is Hard Disk Drives 2 Local Disk (C and HP_RECOVERY (D. Shouldn't it be showing a removable disk? Can any one help me make this work???

yes it should be working. does the bios not see the optical drive either? You may have a larger problem than a defective optical drive.
