That sounds awesome...but if you have the money, why not a Q9450? I'll bet they'll be available widely pretty soon, maybe by 9900gtx launch date

Well the Quad cores just arent the gaming monsters or overclockers like the new e8000 series are. I can prob get to 4.2 Ghz on both cores or higher on air with the e8600 and with the quads ive only seen 3.6 maybe 3.8 on air. But who knows maybe by July when Im ready to buy, it will be different.

I would stay away from the quads(and the 45nm for that matter) until they clear up the temp sensor problems. Seems to be most common in the Q9450, but it happens in all the 45nm cpus as well. I want to upgrade, but I'm waiting until the problem clears up.

The dual sounds good, but don't you think you should wait until both the 4870 and 9900 come out before making a decision there?

how can you game like that? such a small surface for your mouse/keyboard, its so cluttered, and no 5.1 surround sound?

Don't get me wrong though, thats a sexy setup you have.

All I know is I will not have the money for a 9900GTX or any of the 9900 series when it comes out for that matter :P
All I can hope for is 9900 series comes out, lowers 8800GTS G92 prices, and I will be a happy camper. Then they keep on going down as the 9900's gain popularity, and I walk into SLI city :D

You have a very solid setup atm, why do you want to upgrade? Not trying to bash you, but just wondering why :D

Oh, and on the note of bashing you (and everyone else :D) how can you guys NOT game with the computer case under your computer. It saves desk space, and you can put your legs onto the case and lean back. Combine that with a sick brown, torn chair from the 80's (they don't make them like they used to) and you are livin good, no matter what system you have. Just try it for a day... it's soooooooo (oooooo) conformable :D

With the exception of that 780i board, other looks decent. Like others said, if you have the money, you can shoot for Q9450, or even Q6600.

Can I ask why get the E8600 when the E8400 clocks to those speeds easily on air anyway? It does have x10 multi, but 500 FSB is easily available on most X38 boards dunno bout 780i so that'll give you 4.5Ghz unless you are going to water the sucker down to 5Ghz :)?

I don't think running 5 ghz on the new cpus is realistic. I'm positive they will do it, but the voltage it takes to make them run that high gets them to hot. I would like to see someone running the new cpus at that speed stable.

Give me 7 days and my watercooling will finally be fitted into my slightly 'Literally' modded Lian Li. My mobo is good for 500 FSB on air so i'll see if i can get close to the 4.7Ghz mark on watercooling ;). Monday i should have the tools to fit everything the way i want it done. So tues for the water clean and leak check then hopefully if all goes well Wed i'll be roasting something :).

Why am I always sent on det just as i get new components :(.

Well to answer some questions here, I do have 5.1 surround with the addition of a Yamaha surround receiver behind me and an additional 5.1 speaker setup coming out of my XFI sound card connection.  I also want to upgrade because this 6000+ is a great cpu but its just too hot and wont overclock past 3.2 and I dont want to mess with water cooling.  I want to finally go Intel because it will overclock higher, runs cooler and performance will be top end. I dont multitask enough to benifit from quad core maybe on the next go round of 8 core cpus I will jump in to that...and yes Im proud of my hard work to build and perfect my setup and like to show it off much like a muscle car or other project, its a hobby. Plus Im not rich but I do well enough to upgrade once a year and yes I have a hot woman, have a life outside computer parts and things that glow, lol.  Thanks for the input guys!

Just note the 6000+ is good for:

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=282771

I clocked that on air and it 'was' 4 hrs Orthos stable with around 1.6vcore cooled with a TRUE. 3.4Ghz is the avg top end it'll do. As my only other proof though i do have a 3Dmark 06 run with it at 3.5Ghz print screened about somewhere. Didn't intend on it going so high, when it had  i'd already bought this current setup and all benches for the 6000+ went out the window :(.

Personally I'd go for an E10500, a GeForce 13560GTSXXXSXSXSXSXSXSXSXSXSXSX and an nvidia 970i ultra board.
There is no point speculating as you are on hardware. From how things are looking, the HD 4xxx's are going to give the GT200 a run for their money, big time. Even if you don't like ATi, why not wait to see tehir performance? That and DX10.1  :sarcastic:  Can't understand the logic in going with an Nvidia board if there are better choices (P35, X38, X48 etc.) that is unless you're desperate to go SLi...
