I just upgraded the stock cooler of a e6700 for the tunic tower 120,
however when i turned on the pc again, i was surprised that the name that apears on the bootup changed to e6700 to "Genuine Intel(R)"
Is the same on system properties, cpuz shows the correct name.
I disconect the psu wires, 24 + 4 and yes, i take out the cpu and clean the stock past and aplied thermal grease and reseated the cpu and then put on the new cooler, then reconect the wires, and
turned on the system.
Any thoughs ?
Can i resolve this issue ?
I even cleared the c-mos and reinstalled windows to no avail.
It show "Genuine Intel(R) CPU (space) @ 2.66Ghz (space) 2.67 Ghz, 2.00 GB of RAM.
damn man!! You wasted all that time removing CPU and re-installing OS just so you can see in POST the correct name??? Dude, what a waste of time!!!!
If it ain't broken, don't fix it!!!
Seriously, though, there should be a motherboard BIOS setting that allows you to skip through a bunch of that POST stuff, usually called fastboot or something like that. It still does it, it just does it and doesn't 'post' the POST data. It might shave a couple seconds off your boot time, but you still may get the CPU identifier at the initial boot. If it works, don't worry.
