Hi.

I want to ask some advice pretty please.

I just upgraded the stock cooler of a e6700 for the tunic tower 120,
however when i turned on the pc again, i was surprised that the name that apears on the bootup changed to e6700 to "Genuine Intel(R)"

Is the same on system properties, cpuz shows the correct name.

I disconect the psu wires, 24 + 4 and yes, i take out the cpu and clean the stock past and aplied thermal grease and reseated the cpu and then put on the new cooler, then reconect the wires, and
turned on the system.

Any thoughs ?

Can i resolve this issue ?

I even cleared the c-mos and reinstalled windows to no avail.

It show "Genuine Intel(R) CPU (space) @ 2.66Ghz (space) 2.67 Ghz, 2.00 GB of RAM.

Thanks for your help in advance.

MSI G33M, e6700, 2gb corsair, 8800GTX, thermaltake psu, seagate 320G sata.

UPDATE:

After upgrading the bios to the latest version available, is the same...
Not fixed yet !

Help !

So long as it's running the right speed and settings I can't foresee a problem?

when you say "on the bootup" do you mean the POST?

damn man!! You wasted all that time removing CPU and re-installing OS just so   you can see in POST the correct name??? Dude, what a waste of time!!!!
If it ain't broken, don't fix it!!!

Yeah, in the post, its says "Genuine intel..."

Yes, its working normally even though the name issue, and i was supposed to reformat and make all the service for my customer, so it was inevitable...

But is normal to this stuff to happen ?

I never had a problem like that.

If i put on other cpu and test it and then re-put the e6700 will this be fixed ?

Thanks for your replys...

Here is how to make it stop:

unplug your PC.

:)

Seriously, though, there should be a motherboard BIOS setting that allows you to skip through a bunch of that POST stuff, usually called fastboot or something like that.  It still does it, it just does it and doesn't 'post' the POST data.  It might shave a couple seconds off your boot time, but you still may get the CPU identifier at the initial boot.  If it works, don't worry.

Remove the warning labels; evolution should take care of the rest.
