hi,guys i have a weired problem on my new assembled desktop...i use netgear wg111v3 usb wireless adapter to connect to internet on my old pc, where everything were fine, but in the new one there is no access point detected but the router is only few feets away..with the same adapter, is there a problem with my pc.... help me out guys.....there is no driver problem..its the updated one..


cpu--q8200 core2quad

m-board--asus p5n-D 750i sli

ram-kingston 4gb

hdd-segate 500gb

psu-700watts platinum

g-card--xfx 9400gt


os--vista ultimate 32bit.

dvd rom- lg

adapter using --netgear wg111v3

or is the a problem with my motherboard.......

I would start by checking that the USB socket is working -- try a memory stick or whatever.

 

If working, see if you can detect ANY wifi networks (assuming you have neighbours).

 

If so, access the router via an ethernet cable. Once in the user interface check that wireless is turned on, that SSID is not hidden, access list is off -- and temporarily turn off wireless encryption.

 


If you don't have a network socket on your computer I would urge you to add one as they are cheap and essential to network troubleshooting.

everthing's just fine fihart but still no access point detected..

Make sure that the computer's wireless adapter is set to a wireless mode which includes the mode use by the access point -- 11g, b, n etc
