I've heard you can turn a router into a wireless repeater which automatically senses strongest signal and basically repeats it, effectively extending a hotspot's range. I'm interested in trying this out.

Can anyone give me a general idea on how to do this? Appreciate any help.

Check first if your router is part of this list.

If so, you can basically reflash your router with some third-party software and turn it into a repeater. The complete how-to is here.

I suggest you set aside a weekend for this... you'll honestly have to figure out your way through the how-to. Good luck!
