I've been having frequent crashes on my laptop where the trackpad will lock up for a few seconds followed by a crash. On one of the startups the trackpad was still locked up and I got a blue screen. The cause was i8042prt.sys, but I'm not really sure what exactly I should do to fix the problem, when I did a DLL scan the i8042 driver didn't even come up as corrupt or missing. The file is up to date. One of the files related to my trackpad that did come up as corrupt or missing was the vmmouse.sys so I'm wondering if this could be affecting in it. Anyway, any help would be great. Thanks.

Rule of thumb - If it is corrupt, fix it.
