Advise on Intel Core 2 EE + Intel D975XBX upgrades

I have a Intel Core 2 EE + Intel D975XBX system that I bought from Powerspec several years back. Its ok and I'm not complaining on the quaility of the system or that I've had problems.

How far can I take this combination (what processor comes after this one ) or should I invest in a new board / chip / memory / video, etc.

It is a question that can be answered by setting your primary upgrade objective. Gaming, video editing, overclocking, etc. ?
