i read somewhere on tomshardware that windows xp 32 bits cant see more than 3 gigs of ram. so the solution to have 4 gigs of ram would be to instal the 64 bits version of xp. what would change? I have no clue about this things, I mainly use photoshop cs3 and games plus the usual movieplayers and firefox and word and a tv tuner etc. please explain what should I consider for installing 64 bits version of xp, I really need 4 gigs of ram.

With XP 32-bit you can install 4 GB of memory. It will show as ~3.2 GB.
It will still be there though.
With a 64 bit operating system your limit is what the motherboard supports, like 8 GB or 16 GB.

First, why are you wanting to install XP64??? If you are going to upgrade to 64bit, I would recommend doing Vista 64 instead. Vista has finally matured to the point where Vista 64 is very stable. Support for XP 64 is never going to be there...many problems still. Skip the 4gb memory. If you are going to spring for 64 bit go ahead and get 8gb while ram is relatively cheap. That way you can multitask better in 64bit and have the memory to do so.
