Hi guys,

I got a new CPU a week ago and I've realized some weird behavour when booting.

Sometimes I hear one long beep following by a short beep, then a pause, and then a short beep. Other times I just hear a short beep.

I've looked in the mothermoard manual and it says that 1long beep - 1 short beep is a RAM or Mobo problem. The funny thing is that my computer always boots, and it works flawlessly, but I'm just curious why this happens! Should I worry?

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

The PoLe

If it's not broken don't fix it :p

No seriously I have no idea why your board is doing this. My old computer used to do strange beeps when booting but like you I never had any problem with it.

P.S. A single short beep is normal.

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is that I'm not so sure that it's not broken!

What I was trying to say was that most of the times, the computer boots normal (1 short beep), and a few other times (usually on cold start) it makes the long beep following by the short beep, then pause, and then the normal beep and everything just goes fine.

Do the other components make beeps? Maybe it's not the mobo the one it's beeping, but the PSU (just a stupid guess).

Could it be a fan which delays a second to start up? (just another stupid guess)

Anyway, thanks in advance ;)
