hi
Ive been trying to get my E8400 to 4ghz now for about 2 weeks but with little joy.

im using a P5Q-E mobo
4ghz of OCZ PC2-8000(1000mhz) @ 5-5-5-15 2.1V
Thermalright ultra 120 extreme + Artic silver 5
Xpertvision Radeon HD4870 512mb (790/1100)
coolermaster realpower M700
Maxtor Diamond Max 21 160GB SATA 2
LG DVD Drive
Coolermaster HAF 932

I can get my cpu to 3.92ghz stable (can run all my games and orthos, interl burn test), but when i go for 4ghz (445x9) it freaks out on farcry 2 and internet explorer even though it can run orthos blend test for 7 hours @ 61C max, so thats why im confussed, how is it able to run orthos for so long and then fail in internet explorer or farcry 2 ( i should mention that its fine on games like UT3, C&C KW, COD4)

here are my BIOS settings:

CPU Freqeuncy: 445
Strap to north bridge: auto
Multi:9
Memory timings 5-5-5-15 (tryed them at 6-6-6-18 but no joy)
Cpu voltage : anything from 1.26v - 1.38v curently at 1.31v for 3.82ghz
NB voltage: anything from 1.26 - 1.40 makes no differance
Memory voltage 2.10 - 2.20V
CPU PLL - 1.56V
Termination Voltage - 1.26V
PCi-E SATA Volatge 1.60V (not sure what this does >.< ) default is 1.50V

CPU configuration: compatibility mode
CIE- disabled
Intel speed step - disabled
load line calibration - disabled

All other settings that have not been mention are on AUTO (i think)

ive tryed changing the RAM (crucial balistix pc2 800mhz 4-4-4-12) but made no difference, i also tryed underclocking my GPU do eliminate my GPU overclock from the problem (i set it to 600/1000) but with no luck :(

im thinking that maybe i got a bad batch that simply cant be pushed that high i believe the batch number is on the box but i have no idea where the box is, is it also on the CPU itself?
Anyway any help would be great!!! Tips, hints, advice, techniques all welcome =]

FATAL.
