My problem is that on a very rare occasion my computer reboots itself and then gives a message when rebooting saying that the PC was shut down improperly and to choose between a few options of going into safe mode or starting normally etc. and I'm 99.9% sure it's not a virus or any software problem...
Could it be that my PSU is all of a sudden not handling this hardware even after working fine for awhile?
I'd probably also second the ram, I can't even get mine to work at the proper speeds on my gigabyte ma 770 (buget version of your board). The PSU should be absolutely fine, I'm using a 600 Watt PSU I got at pc world with an x2 6000 and 8800gt and it works fine. I would imagine the 8800GT Draws more power too (just checked it does) as it's 65nm vs 55nm of 3870.
I tried setting my ram to 4,4,4,12 as its rated and a couple of mins in my pc reset (no bsod just reset) so that's probably the cause. Also is it 4x1gb or 2x2gb sticks?
i know its not overheating my temperatures are extremely low, i'm pretty sure when i first built the system i went into bios and set the ram to what it's recommended at....
its 2 x 2gb btw
i don't know maybe its some kind of drive problem as has been suggested because it only began happening recently and i havnt made any hardware changes since i built the system... plus its only really happened like 3 times... i guess ill wait and see if the problem persists..
