Hello,
i have 2 computers connected via cross over cable....and my requirement is two bind the mac and ip of both....so that no body would be able to steal data if the cross over cable is taken out and plugged in some other machine with same ip...!!one of the pc in my network is having sensitive data ...plz help

If you set up an ad hoc network between those two machines, a third intruder would need to have the same MAC address and not just the same IP. A MAC address is unique to each individual network adapter and is impossible to forge. You could reinforce things by setting the sharing options more tightly.[/#000ff]

I would have thought that if an intruder was able to access the crossover cable they would have access to the computer(s). If they have access to the computers then the cable is the least of your worries - there are easier ways of stelaing your data (not least being stealing the computer(s)).
