Hello,
Just wanted to thank everyone who posted solutions to XP booting problem with flashing curser. I had the same trouble for over a year. Put a 250gb HD in an Inspiron 6000 (original HD was 80gb). After a few months it wouldn't boot Windows XP (same blinking curser as above). I swapped in a 160gb HD. Worked great for another few months, then same problem. Tech friend couldn't figure it out. I stumbled on this forum and lo and behold...partitioned my hd (136gb on primary) and so far no probs.

Thank you , thank you, thank you!!!

Glad to hear it's working for you.

If you've got an older motherboard, try updating the BIOS. Then install XP with SP2 or SP3. That should resolve the 137GB limit. If you want to learn more, just google XP 137GB limit.
