System Files on external drive?

I want to get a WD 1TB external hard drive. Can i put system files on it? Such as files that would be found on the C drive under programs? Like an IDE? Could i Set that external drive as an expansion to my C drive storage?

Are you trying to move system files or make it your boot drive?

Ok i want it to be set just the same as the C: so yes make it boot. Is that possible? And another question, i just installed it and its applications but everytime i go to access it, it wants me to install the apps for it again, it wont let to the storage.

Yes, you can install windows on that drive and boot off it. However, depending on the interface you may notice a decrease in performance.

May? aford10 is being charitable. Unless you are using an eSATA port, you will.

eSATA would be ok. But I'm guessing it's USB. Not ideal....
