Hey guys, just a quick question..

just wondering if the 9800gx2 will work fine with the x38 board? I recently bought a 780i board but had some problems with it, after reading a ton of reviews alot of people have said good things about the x38 being stable and whatnot, so I just wanna know if the x38 will run the gx2 card without any problems?

It'll work fine. The dual gpu card counts as a single card, and doesn't require sli motherboard to run.

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

Yep it will work fine, i have talked about it in the FAQ:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/foru [...] sfire-faqs

NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800GX2(Read the note about the 7950GX2,its the same for 9800GX2)

NVIDIA GEFORCE 7950GX2(Remember, you may think that because 7950GX2 is actually "2 cards attached to one" then you need a SLI motherboard to use it, but you dont, for single 7950GX2, u will need just one PCI-E 16x slot.

Hope this helped :)

There is basically no difference. They perform the same and overclocks the same.

Also consider p45. Cost only $99.99, overclocks as well as x38/48. It does have pcie2.0, but does not support crossfire. It's not an issue with your gx2 though.
