I know a Zalman CNPS9700 will fit in an Antec 900 case, but what about the clearance between that cooler with Corsair Dominator memory and the proprietary fans on a Gigabyte DS3L?

Memory and fan in question:

The mobo:

P.S. What's the difference between the DS3L, EP35-DS3R, and EP35C-DS3R?

The 3 boards are very similar. The DS3R is very similar to the DS3L except it has 4 extra rear USB ports, has 4 more SATA ports, supports RAID, has a larger northbridge heatsink, and lacks a serial port. The difference between the EP35 and EP35C versions of the DS3R is that the former only uses DDR2 memory while the latter is able to use either DDR2 or DDR3 memory (but not both at the same time).

Can't help with the heatsink, sorry.

Why would you pick the cheapest P35 board and that silly overpriced memory ?
The difference in performance is what ? 1% average (unnoticable in real world tasks) for a 20% price increase ? And the fan is going to become noisy in 6 months!

Buy this (you save $46 after return)

and get a more expensive CPU (higher multiplyer so you can have lower FSB)/GPU whatever suits your needs better.

I'm only going to run a single HD and it supposed to be a $1000 that's already at ~$1200.

The room I'm in is an oven thanks to the Texas heat and poor ventilation/AC.

RAM doesn't run hot unless you seriously overclock it. My Geil Black Dragon runs at 800MHz and at 1.95Volts. They are cool to the touch and they don't even have a heatsink. Just make sure you have decent airflow and it should be fine. Show us your selections and we'll shave off what we can.

$46 down $154 to go.
