The GX2 will probably have a very short life (until 9900 GX2).
My advice is save some money and buy a weaker 9600GT (150$) graphics today. By August or September NVIDIA will roll out 9900GTX/GX2 and end of life the 9800GX2.

The 780i/790i chipsets by NVIDIA also have some issues with RAM overclocking (everything above 800MHz stock seems to be affected) causing data corruption.

Also get a WD6400AAKS hard drive (250GB is not much today) and it's a very fast drive.

Other than that dagger already said everything.

780/790i chipsets are already the best that still support sli. They pale in comparasion to cheaper x38/48, but if you have to have sli, there's no choice. Or you can get the Intel Skulltrial dual cpu board, supporting both sli (including quad sli) and Crossfire, and costing $600. :na:

You forgot you need two socket 771 chips. Adds another 3000$ to the equation. Don't worry, you can still file for Chapter 11 tomorrow.

listen to Andrius, dump that 9800GX2 in any case, if you want grab 2 8800GTs or GTS's since they'll perform better and cooler.

trade q6600 for a q9450, you won't regret it. OCZ GameXtreame for a seasonic m12 series (700w maybe) modular. and your set, i'd recommend a lian li case over that thermaltake too.
