Hi. I use an older HP computer (with some upgrades and an external hard drive) for video editing and internet surfing.

Broadband providers here have ripoff rates so I'd like to consider going wireless.

If I installed a PCI card in my computer (if it has a slot,) would I be able to send completed video projects to various recipients?

Will wifi be any cheaper? What kind of monthly cost should I expect?

Sorry to seem so naive about this...but I am. Thanks!

Wi-Fi really refers to the local end of it -- you connect a wireless router to your incoming broadband connection (from those ripoff providers). That allows you to (for example) to use a wireless equipped laptop to access the internet from anywhere in the house.

Cellphone based broadband is even more expensive.
