When working in a directory where I store digital pictues, I get a copy of
the pictures I delete on some occasions. I know it is a minor problem
because I can go back later and do a shift delete on all the copyxxxx.jpg
files and get rid of them.

What is causing this?

Any idea on how to stop it?

Thanks in advance,

Tom D.

Your mouse, use the delete key. When you select what you want to delete be
careful with your mouse drag movement.

Hi Tom,

It happens because you drag the mouse slightly when you have them selected.
The drag is assumed to be a copy action, and so the "copy of ..." files are
created.

"A friend of mine" does this often also. Is there a way to disable the
automatic copy so that a dialog pops up asking if you want to Copy, Move,
etc.? Similar to a right mouse click and drag.

TIA

Yes, simply use the right mouse button instead.

Hmm, simple yet effective. I don't know if I can train her. It usually
strains our relationship when I try to do that. :)
