I have a dell computer, windows xp and i got the blue screen error 000008E.

If any one knows how to fix this please help. i tryed calling tecnical support from dell and the only thing they said to do would be to reformat my computer. meaning everything erased. I DONT WANT THAT!!!!!! i just did that a couple months ago and dont want to reinstall everything again HELP!!!!

First, back up your important data. Second, check your hardware such as memory, hard disk. Probably, you are dying hardware. In that case, you will need to replace the dying hardware.

I believe the 8e error is due to an application error and not hardware failure. At least that's what my research found when I had the same BSOD error earlier this month. I believe mine was due to driver issues. I haven't had one since. Are yours still occuring? Have u had more than 1? Have u recently installed any new software or deivers?

You can also check your event viewer for information about the error.
