If I keep the vcore the same and overclock it more and the vcore keeps safe at the same will it raise the temperature just by raising the MHZ? Right now my Q6600 is doing good the max it hits is 55C on stock cooler and have it up to 3 GHZ so far. Vcore is 1.26 btw. I almost forgot also does overclocking it more wear it out faster even with the vcore staying the same too?

That's what I saw with mine - 3.0 GHz with stock cooler and voltage. But you've pushed it about as far as you should go with the stock HSF.

You say the max temp is 55 C. What program are you loading the CPU with?

Keep the vcore under 1.5 volts and the temps under 70 C and you should be fine. I am running mine at 3.6 GHz at 1.45 volts with a very good air cooler in a very good (for cooling) case. And loaded, my temps hit 61 - 65 C.

Well stress it with prime95 to have the full picture. My cpu reaches 70C in prime, whereas games(crysis, cod4) only get it to about 55.

the only thing that wears out a cpu is voltage and temps, for 10c lower you double the life of the cpu, but the damage from voltage goes up as a square power for the increase of voltage
