Heya guys,
This is my first build and I have some problems reducing its cost. I don’t want to go over $1500CAN (with tax) and I’m at $2000 now. As you will probably notice, I have to buy everything, mouse, keyboard, monitor and its driving me crazy. I’m not an intensive gamer but I do plan on becoming one  and I am going to overclock. I think everything important was said; now the parts I have chosen (These are the lowest prices I found (did not include the rebates and MIR, because I’m probably going to buy this computer at the end of May or mid-June)) Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120MM Cooling Fan 1600RPM 28.0DBA 63.7CFM FDB

Hmm... tough choices. Personally I would ax all the non essential stuff like Headphones, mouse pad, etc. I would recommend you get the system built first and then get the other non essential items later.  What can you re-use from old build?

I have a 900 case--now that i have one, i would never go to anything else.  But since you do not have a 900 now, you coudl save some money on a cheaper case.  (save $50)

You don't necessarily need the CPU Fan if your CPU is Retail. Save $43
Pickup a cheap keyboard for the time being and save $20
Only pickup 2GB Ram (save $50)
Pickup a cheaper Optical Mouse (Save $30)
You coudl swap your 8800GT for a 9600GT and save $100.
The headphones may be overkil (save $65)

Total Savings ~$358 pluss the shipping savings.

Nothing srly, my older screen is a 15inch CRT and the rest is as bad. i guess im pretty much screwed. ill try to get some good prices off NCIX (combo deals/rebate/MIR), should save me $100 and work for the $400 left.

thx for tips hesskia, im probably going to get another pair of headphones and maybe a cheaper mouse but i need that aftermarket cooler if i want to get past 3ghz. I really wanted to make this computer future-proof (i now it will never be), thats why i went with 4GB, i guess if i want to last a couple of years ill have to spend these $500.

Where are you getting these prices? These are cheaper than the ones I've found!
