Whenever I try to overclock my Saphire HD4830 with CCC auto-tune it finds 690/1190, but I don't think it's actually setting those clock speeds as every clock monitored I've tried (RivaTuner, GPU-Z) show the default 500/750. I even try this while playing crysis in windowed mode, but the sensors stay right at 500/750. I also tried using ATItool to overclock but when I up the mem or core clock and click set clock, the meter goes right back to zero. What is going on???

got the same problem here, ATI catalyst 8.12, ATI trays tools and AMD GPU Clock Tool are not able to change the clocks, but Rivatuner 2.22 works like a charm.

Now I just need to know what an acceptable temperature is for the 512 samsung GDDR3 memory on my MSI R4830 T2D512-OC, I know the GPU is ok till 90C, or should I just overclock till I see artifacts?

I'm running GPU @ 730 MHz and RAM @ 1100 MHz np

ah I found the overclocking guide on this forum, running @ 720/1050 now to stay below the max temperatures measured with GPU-Z: Core 49C, MEMIO 60C, DISPIO 48.5C and Shadercore 57C.

The weird thing is GPU-Z reports the correct fan percentage when I set the fan to 100% via rivatuners 'low-level fan control', but I dont hear or feel the fan going faster nor do the temperatures drop.
