I have an external hard drive with an annoying high pitched fan, on my computer it stays on even when the computer is off, however on another computer it switches off with the computer and shuts up.

Problem is, i cant find how to get it to switch off on both pcs, any help?

Some motherboards continue passing power to peripherals even when the computer is off, so long as they're connected to a power source. Does the fan stay on when you unplug the PC? If not, then there's your reason.

I kind of knew that was the problem, Was just wondering if there was an option to turn it off, In the BIOS or something.
