Pretty simple: what's your opinion on tilting one of our modern 3.5" hdd's (7200rpm+ platters) or 5.25" optical drives? Would you mind setting it up on an angle? How about tilting it while running? Tilting it while reading/writing something in a super fragile stripped raid 0?

I don't see any problems tilting my WD black 1tb, doesn't produce any SMART errors or damage the platters... but when I tilt my dad's old 80gb ide hdd, it makes a grinding noise :pt1cable:

It's an old drive and the bearings are probably wearing out. Still you SHOULDN"T move or tilt any drives while they are running no matter how new they are. That is other than the new SSDs which don't have moving parts.
