I've got a new build on the table that's having problems freezing in multiple places (mostly in Vista installation and OS) . I've narrowed it down to the ASUS Striker II Formula Motherboard (BIOS Rev 1101) in the build. I've RMAed it once, and I get the same. Also, I tried another mobo/CPU with the build and it ran beautifully. The only thing I haven't tried is the CPU swap-out (Core 2 Quad Q9300) which I'm swapping for a Pentium 4 tonight just to make sure.
I know the memory isn't on the ASUS QVL, which is why I figured I probably need custom voltages and/or timings on the RAM (RAM works by the way, tried it in another machine; also tried other RAM in the build to no avail). I've tried custom voltage and timings on the RAM running 800MHz, 2.1V, and 6-6-6-18. That didn't work, and I've read in another thread that increasing the NB voltage may help the situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Stab in the dark
Might try increasing the FSB V by 0.1 inaddition to the (G)MCH. I had to increase both on by system for stability. Tried one then the other - Didn't hack it, mine need booth.
Added - You mentioned your board was a yr old, do you knwo if the Bios supports your proc.

Well, I got things figured out. I had removed the stock heatsink to put two fan heatsinks on the NB and SB. What I forgot was a heatsink for the NVidia NF200 chip that lies between them. However, because the video card blocks it from being accessible to a heatsink, I had to put the stock heatsink back on and things are running stable now. This of course is in addition to my forcing the RAM to 2.1V and the CPU to 1.35V.
Also, I don't know where I mentioned the board was a year old, just that the BIOS was old. It's a new board and I know that the 1101 BIOS supports the CPU I have in it.
Anyway, now I have a second problem that should probably go under the memory section. Thanks all for your help.
