Is this something that is best left to the store to do, or can you do it
yourself?

I have an apartment, so I can't really do too much damage to the wall.

Doesn't that depend on a large extent on the size of the TV you want
to mount? A 32" LCD could probably be mounted by one person without too
much trouble. But a 50" or 65" plasma is something I would likely leave
to an installer.
