Hi,

I bought a new PC nearly 1 month back with 500GB WD HDD installed.
From past couple of days I observed the Hdisk has started creating noise, particularly during the disk extensive operations (e.g. Defragmenter).

Can someone please suggest what needs to done in such case.

Thanks for your time

Kiran

Can you describe the noise? Medium high-pitched sounds? Those are normal seeking sounds. Does it sound like the harddrive is malfunctioning?

The obvious is: make sure you have a proper backup at all times.

Need to know if it is a problem and if hard drive has to be replaced. I ran the "chkdsk" but no errors were found.

Thank you

If you have a good backup you do not need to replace the drive. Some drives make more noise than others, i've had one such drive; its still running though its obviously louder than the other drives of the same brand and type. So it doesn't guarantee there is something wrong with your drive.

You may also scan the drive with the manufacturer utility to see if it certifies are healthy.
