Vista won't recognize 1TB hard drive

I installed a 1 TB hard drive (sata) the bios recognizes it but windows vista does not. I need to format and partition but cant find itin explorer or anywhere in windows.thanks

I think the easiest way imo is to use a software such as partition magic and your drive will be up & running in no time

Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management. That will show you all the drives, formatted and un-, that you have in your computer. You should be able to go from there.

Or go to Start -> Help & Support and type "format drive " into the box and follw the instructions.

Whoops. Those are XP instructions. Do the "Help" thing in Vista instead.

Check your drive manufacturers website. They should have some simple tools to allow you to format or partition it. You may have to load them on a bootable USB stick or floppy (but only if you have to).
